Welcome to Fishes Café Restaurant and Wine Bar. We hope you find our website useful when planning your trip to North Stradbroke Island.
The Fishes Café & Restaurant site offers a host of information ranging from North Stradbroke Island whale watching, activities and things to do, accommodation providers, links to other businesses on Straddie (as it is known to those who have already visited here), weather and tide forecasts and a host of other useful information to help you plan your day trip or extended holiday.
Fishes Café is located opposite to the entrance to Straddie's famous North Gorge, Point Lookout. From here, you can relax on the grass and watch the whales going south to their summer feeding grounds. Then, get a birds eye view of the famous Frenchman’s Beach surf break or marvel at the local North Stradbroke Island fishermen battling the swell as they put to sea each afternoon for a nights fishing.
“Fishes” operates as an all day café and takeaway, offering a range of breakfast options (coffee is our other passion) lunch, an eat in or takeaway menu, and an alfresco evening dining experience specialising in fresh, local North Stradbroke Island seafood, succulent steaks and a range of vegetarian meals.
Fishes Café Restaurant Seafood menu changes daily depending on what the local fishermen are catching with local oysters, prawns, Moreton Bay bugs and crabs a specialty.
Straddie is one of the largest sand islands in the world with miles of unspoilt sandy beaches. It has an outstanding freshwater lake system that has been listed as one of the world’s most ecologically important wetlands. This location, and the fact that Stradbroke Island is mostly national park with no major agricultural industries, makes the waters around North Stradbroke Island ideal to fatten oysters, prawns and crabs free from potential pollution sources and run off.
A visit to North Stradbroke Island provides a myriad of things to do, from bike riding, surfing, fishing and all things beach, to a casual coffee or a glass of chardonnay at one of North Stradbroke islands cafes, restaurants or the fabulous Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel.
Fishes Café Restaurant and Takeaway is supplied where possible by local Straddie fishermen, that is our commitment to you - at Fishes Seafood Cafe we are serious about your local Straddie seafood experience! If it’s being caught around Straddie, then we've got it on Fishes Cafe Restaurant menu!
