Returning to Straddie in 1996, Dan started Fishes with his brother, Colin in 2006. Dan, assuming the role of head chef during the early days, is passionate about his delicious and hearty breakfast menu.
Being a local for almost two decades, Dan takes an eager interest in conservation, local issues and being a sizeable employer on the island. He takes care of his staff and is rewarded with a loving and dedicated kitchen and floor staff team.
Originating from Brisbane with his brother Dan, Colin enjoyed visiting Straddie as a child in their family holiday home and after purchasing Fishes with his brother, joined us on the island in 2007.
Colin was drawn to Straddie after almost two decades running another tourism based business in Thredbo, NSW.
Colin is Chairman of the Straddie Chamber of Commerce and is extremely passionate about the tourism industry on the island.
Our head chef started his career in the UK before going backpacking with his now wife Sophie. They travelled extensively in SE Asia and around Australia.
Fishes lured him to Straddie 9 years ago and tourists and locals alike have been enjoying his evening specials each and every week, a huge asset to us here; come and enjoy the teams evening menu from 5:30 pm on weekends!
